The season of gold

When autumn comes, it is dressed in summer. It wears the last of a season that came before, and one that many aren’t quite ready to leave. But then slowly, it starts to change. In ways so subtle you don’t notice at first, but then dramatically and with force.

Autumn doesn’t get to just relax and enjoy itself; it’s a working time of year. Just like the harvest that is pulled in and collected, fall is working hard at changing its colors and sifting off layers. It’s actively shifting itself, and us, into what’s next, little by little and then all at once.

It blows in gently with a crisp air after summer heat. The leaves gently start changing. You one day realize you’re no longer reaching for your shorts or T-shirts. And then, the air is colder, the earth is collecting more and more leaves, and the trees are bare.

It’s time to start preparing for winter. It’s time to begin making your own warmth.

Autumn is a ray of sunshine through vibrant-colored leaves.

It’s early evenings and warm fires.

It’s harvesting what’s meant for you and leaving the chaff behind while collecting the wheat. It’s taking with you what’s meant for you in the next season and leaving the rest.

It’s more time collecting, harvesting, and savoring than planning or preparing (save that energy for spring).

No, autumn is the season of gold. Stories, reflection, enjoying what you have… Looking with a smile upon your life, your beautiful harvest, all that you get to experience and enjoy…it’s suddenly seeing your life through the orange and yellow hues of the sun’s rays; it’s the season of gold.

~ Enjoy the season that you’re in,

Molly~
